They do. At parking speed they work miracles. Unfortunately at speed most of them can, and probably will, do some serious damage to the frame, even when the bike will just simply slide on the side.

I believe in such case one would be worried about own a*s, not the bike. But in the end, if they are not designed to bend (and most aren't!), it would be better not to have them at all...

Before spring comes i am planning to put some GIVI bars on my FZ. May not be the prettiest in the bunch, but hopefully they will do their job right (I do not wish to test it though ).

I have an FZ1 (I'm pretty sure the FZ8 and FZ1 can use the same sliders) and I'm a fan of the T-Rex sliders. The one's they have now are a little different than the set I bought in Oct 2010, but they are very simular. I'm never been down with them, but I've heard good things from some who have on FZ1's. I like the UHMW-PE (ultra high molecular weight polyethylene) rather than other materials because I think it will 'slide' better in a moving crash.

Glad the bike is ok and you avoided any injury. Everyone who rides has or will drop their bike. No worries.

Those sliders look great and have an awesome price tag! Any chance they are sold anywhere else that may ship to Australia?
